"I was a one-hit wonder in my own hometown."

I just read a spoiler-y review of the final issue of Ex Machina and now I'm super depressed. I always knew the series was a tragedy; they tell you so on the first page. But it's a very different sort of tragedy than what I thought it was going to be, one that's so much more heartbreaking. I haven't read the comic itself yet (I get my comics by mail ( Read more... )

I'm down to two DC books now with Supergirl and Juggs Busty Airborne Lass. I might go back to Batwoman, but in the last year I've dropped Booster Gold and Secret Six.

In fact, loads of books are off my list now.

Have you tried Booster Gold since the change in creative teams? It seems like the people who really liked the Jurgens run hate it, so maybe the opposite is true as well. As for me, I loved the first couple of issues, but I haven't been so keen on the current JLI back-in-time adventure storyline. I love the JLI, but it's hard to capture lightning in a bottle once much less twice, and this just isn't as good as the old stuff.

I think I'm going to pick up the Ant-Man and Wasp mini that Marvel solicited this month. I have you to thank for my affection ofr Eric O'Grady.

I didn't drop Booster Gold because I didn't like it. It was more a case of just not caring about it.

The Ant-Man series sounds vaguely interesting, but the best thing about the Irredeemably Ant-Man is his irredeemableness. They've not made him that irredeemable outside of his own series.

Don't get too attached to any event or storyline in Ex Machina. Remember how many branes there are in the bulk.

That makes me feel a lot better, actually. Thank you.

Have you read #50 yet?

I have read #50 and it was glorious.

There are a lot of people who are complaining about it, but I suspect that those are people who either don't read the series or didn't pay attention to what the issue was saying.

Both groups can fuck the fuck off because it was a great end to a great series.

I have NO IDEA what is up with that Superman cover. I suspect he was supposed to look protective and sheltering, but he looks like a vampire instead. :P

Nguyen on Batgirl? BE STILL MY HEART.

Also, BANE ON A T-REX! I think Mina just exploded. :)

...but he looks like a vampire instead.

Exactly!

Wait.

Maybe Superman was infected by the story-vampire from Final Crisis!

Nguyen on Batgirl? BE STILL MY HEART.

OMG I am so excited. I hope sales double!

I may or may not have made a lot of high-pitched squealing noises when I saw this cover.
If you did or did not it's okay because no one could hear you over my high-pitched squealing noises. ;)

And the Superman cover is just horrendous. Plus, he's stepping on my state and that makes me cranky.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to lose it over that cover :D

Plus, he's stepping on my state and that makes me cranky.

I'm sorry, that made me LOL. Are you going to be subjected to a visit as well?

I am lucky enough that I'm not going to be subjected to a visit here in South Dakota but he is stopping in Iowa and that's a little too close for comfort.

Lemire's art is very idiosyncratic, so I can see why the editors felt is wasn't appropriate for a DCU book, but I would be totally in to it. C'mon, DC! Two people would buy it so hard.
