I'm laughing my ass off about what your grandfather told you because of an experience I had that is a perfect example.
I loaned a girl some money which she swore to pay back. The fact that we had mutually enjoyable sex for a year afterward had nothing to do with it, in my opinion. When she decided to end the relationship, she also decided not to pay me back. My attorney advised me that I could threaten to take her to court but warned me that she had spoken with the girl and she claimed the money was not a loan but was payment for all the sex we had. My attorney told me (I swear) "no matter what kind of verbal agreement a person gives and breaks, if prostitution was a form of payment it is still not legal and so you cant take her to court." WTF is exactly what I said.
