"I was not very thrilled by the offer of having some raw fish (Korean style sushi I suppose)"

I believe even in Japanese Sushi, the fish is mostly raw. Even I used to feel yuck when I was asked to try raw fish, but then a perfectly prepared Sushi (here I eat mostly Salmon and Shrimp) is just amazing. You just don't feel that it's raw. If somebody doesn't tell you that its raw fish then I don't think one can find it. Oh yeah, we from coastal karnataka have this feeling that raw fish means it smells and tastes bad (effects of bootaayi, we call it taarle ;) ). If you loved oysters then I'm sure you'll love raw fish (in a good restaurant of course)
Try some squids and octopus too ( Archana will beat me to death for my great suggestions :P ). I didn't like calamari much, octopus was ok.
