FOREIGN words! So, like they're not really words, 'cause they're like Italian and German and stuff...

Sigh.

Mozart loved writing his operas in German. He felt Germany was the most romantic nation on Earth. He resented when he was commissioned specifically for an Italian opera, he felt the Italians were simpering fops.

As to Tracy - um...

Well, that's apocryphal. Mozart also liked to take the piss out of the Italians, and later Germans like Wagner spread the story to make them feel superior. What is closer to the truth is that Mozart wanted to write more in the language of the audience (which was in Salzburg and Vienna German).

Don't trust the movie Amadeus for all of your info.

Oh, and tell Tracy that Jesus Christ Superstar is also listed as a "Rock Opera"
