Literally fifteen-minute fic, everyone!
Based in the prison!fic.
Dear Alphonse,
You're the only person on earth who will ever be able to read this message. You'll probably only ever read it subliminally, but I hope it ... I don't know what I hope it does.
I'll never, ever forget what you looked like when I finally bit the bullet and used your armor - the Stone - to pull your body back from the Gate. I wanted to get you back with the years you lost, but it wasn't possible. Still, you were ... you were perfect. I want you to know that. You were unbelievably perfect. You looked exactly like you did when you were ten, same eyes, same hair, same smile.
You looked so betrayed when I kept transmuting, though. I'll never forget that, either, but it was worth it. It was completely worth it. What else was I going to do? You would have ended up right here, next to me, and that should never happen.
I miss you every minute of every day. Sometimes it hurts, knowing you won't miss me, but that's okay. It's better that you're safe out there, and happy. It makes me happy to think you're happy. If I thought you were out there somewhere, miserable, I don't know what I'd do.
Keep living the life you're living, and enjoy every damned minute of it. Touch the grass, smell the rain and the fresh air afterwards, taste carrots and chocolate and everything else worth tasting out there. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I'm filled with ... I guess it's joy. Pride, too. To think you're enjoying a body like you always should have.
Finally, though, I want to ask you to forgive me. I took your memories, and I guess that's unforgivable, but I hope you'll find it in yourself ... ah, what am I saying? Of course you will. You're my little brother Alphonse. You're so patient and kind there's no words for people like you. Let me trust in that.
I know you'll love this book, too. I wrote it for you.
Sincerely,
Your big brother
