Ah, fanfiction.net, how little do I miss thee. I remember the days when I had read pretty much the entirety of their Harry Potter section, and then kept up with the daily postings. Gradually I discovered better archives, and that combined with my frustration over their TOS changes lead to my attention drifting away. Some time after the NC-17 banning I gave it up for good - somehow the really good, long, meaty stories are all rated R-NC-17 - and started just looking for rec pages or delicious listings when I entered a new fandom. That's not to say that fanfiction.net doesn't have its place - fandom newbies have to start somewhere, and it's nice to have them largely quarantined until they get their internet legs - but I'm glad to have outgrown it. I just hope that AO3 never becomes another ff.n.
I spent I don't know how long on there, a couple of months ago, replacing all my scene breaks with horizontal rules. So far, they're still there. If they decide they don't want to allow those anymore, I don't even know what I'll do.
