I'm not a very big gamer, but what the heck. Stolen from

So, little to no doubt that none of you know what this is. This is the VERY FIRST HANDHELD GAME EVER. It was simply titled 'Football'.
My brothers and I would be left with our grandparents every so often, once a year for a fun weekend and a trip to Wolf Trap, a summer theater. In the meantime we played with the toys Grandma and Grandpa had around, and amongst them? The game 'Football'.
This game was produced in 1977, which does, believe it or not, make it older than me. It ran on a 9-volt battery (remember those?). Incredibly, by the time I was old enough to play it it still worked. (Still does, incidentally ...)
The way the game works is that the itty bitty screen has a football field painted on it. You control a bright red dot, which represents you carrying a football. There are other not-as-bright red dots on the field, which represent the opposing team's tackle. You have no other team members, you always have possession of the ball, and you must bypass the tackle to make it to the other end of the field. If you run into a not-as-bright red dot you've been tackled and it is a 'down'. If you make it to the other end of the screen it is a first down and you'll get four more tries to a touchdown. You could check your status by pressing the ST and SK buttons, which would tell you time, score, down, etc etc. I guess the K button meant you do a kickoff, but I was playing this game when I was, like, five. All I knew was that you didn't want to hit the dots.
The screen was pretty much made up of 27 pixels and you could only move up or down three 'spaces' and you had NO chance if the computer decided to tackle you instead of letting you by on each new screen, because the tackle always took up all the available places to run. Was it stupid? yes. Was it awesome? Also yes.
