I've never successfully grown a poppy and I love them
I can't believe I didn't answer with talking on the phone. I also go and see people rather than phone them, assuming I can't get away with emailing them

It's odd to think that in Britain we celebrate Armistice day when poppies aren't blooming!
According to the Polish workers who have had to learn Russian, English is harder. My mum used to learn Russian and I used to sit in on her Russian learning program and picked up quite a few words. It was definitely harder to learn than French or German.

And much harder than Hebrew, Japanese, Maori, or Bahasa Indonesia, all of those non-European. I'm also used to cases from German (which is fluent as I used to live there) so maybe it was the untrained teacher. I could give it another go, but I no longer have Russian friends to practise on.

English has a simple structure, but so many exception and a horrible spelling system (if you can call it that), so I'm not surprised. I used to help my Russian friends in Auckland with their English which made me notice all the weird quirks.
