All is well over here. Toby is the World's Easiest Baby, II'm happy to report. He slept through the night at ten weeks old (11 hours solid!) laughs, smiles, and is generally a pleasure. He's thrilled to be left in his crib to play with his newfound hands and toys, and goes to sleep without being rocked, walked, etc. Just pop him in his crib when he ( Read more... )

I think the trick is to be laid back during pregnancy. While there are twins that one is fussy and one isn't, in general, laid back moms have laid back babies, and super paranoid moms have fussy babies.
Lord only knows I was laid back in pregnancy. I was charged by a rhino, ran into a burning building to rescue family photos, and played with monkeys. And what's more (judge all you want!) had the odd glass of wine. That's the norm here. I didn't have more than one in a night, or more than two in a week, and stuck to the low alcohol stuff (6% alcohol, as opposed to normal wine, which is 14) - but damn, a glass of wine in a bath saved my ass during pregnancy.

Good luck with yours. Please do drop me a note if you want someone to vent to.

Sounds like you'll be just fine. Babies respond to their mothers stress hormones, (cortisol) and also love hormones. (Oxytocin?) So when breastfeeding, if the mother is stressed, the baby gets pumped full of stress hormones. The baby cries, making the mom more stressed - bad cycle. Love hormones also get to the baby in the same way, leading to a cheery little sunshine, making more love hormones - etc.
so just flood yourself with happy things, as much as you can. :-)
