Warthog Skull

A few weeks ago I found a really nice warthog skull in the bush! I took it home. It is in very nice condition: nice and clean, upper and lower jaws, no broken pieces, both upper tusks and one lower tusk intact, only the front teeth all gone. I'm going to use this warthog skull as an element of a painting we're going to do in art class.

Excellent!!! bones are great things, i use them a lot in my boxes. Snaily sent me some brilliant bones by post. People sometimes go a bit pale when they see the stuff lurking in my atélier, for some reason they find collections of bones, hair, feathers, mummified lizards etc scary.

What sort of painting are you planning?

Hello Snailrind and Terri! The painting is going to consist of multiple views of certain objects. The warthog skull will be one of those objects. Dunno what else I will use ... I may find some other interesting stuff in the 'veld'. Today for instance I found parts of the skeleton and skull of a 'Baber' which is a huge kind of African fish ... but these parts were disintegrated and not really visually appealing. So I did not take them. But I might find something better soon!

I'm also currently working on a drawing of a chameleon. This is for Jessika, one of the visiting students from Germany.

I'm going to post an entry here about today's trip.
