a little experiment

After giving a demo cd to Baden yesterday at Speakeasy, I'm taking my remaining four in their newly labelled cases to Poetry Unplugged tonight, to see if I can manage to sell them (myself). Four at £2 each would give me back £8, which still wouldn't pay my costs (for going to PU) but at least it'd be almost there. Anythings worth a try, eh ( Read more... )

Good luck.

I should really think about going to the Poetry Cafe again - but I always seem to be busy on Tuesdays lately.

I'll be assessing the results later no doubt! Also going to shortfuse this week, which is music and poetry in islington, cos my friends band in playing. They have open mic and then booked slots, and are running a poetry idol competition (what I shall be enterringg this year as I forgot last year) if you can make it to that? Never been before (islington is sooooo far away) but told its generally very good ...

The real challenge is to get a slot early enough in the proceedings so you have enough of an (awake) audience to sell the stuff to! Is Carl still persisting with his 'raffle ticket' system?

Oh yes vilebody September 29 2004, 02:10:49 UTC
The raffle tickets persist. last week there were over thirty readers and the place was packed - almost 70 standing and all - they were even turning people away. This week there were 18 readers, so when a visiting chinese artist asked to sing a song to the moon to end the night (an ancient poem set to music) in honour of the chinese moon festival (where people traditionally get together and sing poems to the moon) he let her!

And of course I was on in the second half and only sold two cds but two is better than non, eh?
