And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars

Luxuriously carnal, voluptuous and dangerous-femme fatale?. Perhaps.

Literally translated, femme fatale is French for "deadly woman." Her archetypes are both Lilith and Eve. She is Jezebel, Delilah, and ( Read more... )

In older paintings, Mary is also shown as having the moon under her foot and the sun as a crown - or a halo, which represents a very similar idea. Stars are often painted as part of the background of sky, their other meaning easily overlooked. The moon under the foot represents the person having gained mastery/control over their own negations/inhibitions/limitations (to the degree to which is possible with that particular person). The solar symbol is male, of course, but the true priestess was known by her ability to channel solar energy - hence she "became a man"; which is not to imply that men are in any way superior to woman, that male energy is in any way "better" than female. Remember the two pillars, one black, one white? Both are equal opposites ( ... )

Man is not better than woman, of course not. We need each other (looking at poor Bijoux)

Women and Stars havok7 June 27 2005, 17:34:29 UTC
Perhaps the development of my soul is the final piece of this puzzle. It seems that my soul attracts people/events.. in a very calculated manor. A woman crowned with stars. Makes me think of the nights on the boat spent laying out, staring towards the clearest night sky I'd ever seen. Someone who shared my wonderment with the stars. Which sparked my wonderment with her. How can two souls speak in silence? Where we both can hear. Yet there are obstacles...... Vil, I may need you here. She is a seeker of knowledge like myself, she can appreciate beautiful poetry.... she knows fluent Spanish... give me a key. Something to send her maybe.
