Rose

My aunt Rose was the third of the five Mravintz sisters, born between my mother and aunt Tess. While the first two sisters Mary and Helen, had pretty dominant and expressive personalities Rose was a much quieter, calmer person and seemed to be more willing to step away from family issues and agitations. I've been following your very interesting account of the Mravitz sisters and can't wait to read the rest of the series. There's such a contrast between your mother, Helen's, personality and your Aunt Rose's. Birth order working, as you said!.. And soon we'll hear about Cathy & Tess. (If I remember right, she had passed away recently and left a treasure trove of stuff from all over the world. Or did I get her all mixed up with somebody else?) Also where's the eldest, Mary's, story?...

I share your positive take on Rose and value that you spent a lot more time in her company and so know even better than me. In many ways she was the eye of the family hurricane -- and I love the way you defined how she held her own ground and defined herself with shoes, color, food, etc. Your review of her life is a bit long for an epitaph but make a very nice obituary. Will anyone have anything even nearly as nice to say about me after I'm gone? Not likely, so I'll try to keep on learning from Rose. Thanks for sharing. John

P.S. - Gram, Tess and Cathie were in Green Valley only a couple of years before moving to the Catalina foothills just off Swan road, so geography wouldn't have been a factor in their connection with Rose. But I don't have an answer as to their later-year relationship cause I was gone from Tucson then myself.

I remember Gram (Rose)quite well and she spent quite a bit of time with us in our family home (Frank and Patty B.) In fact she was coming to live with us in our home the day after she passed away. Ill never forget the blue 64 Mustang she drove.
