Tess

Both, in childhood and as an adult, there was little dispute that Aunt Tess was the family hero. Scott, this is an even more complete and lively version of the story of Tess than anything I've heard to date. Quite an accomplishment for a Sunday, and quite a piece of good writing. I can imagine that she wouldn't do well with retirement. Her life was bigger than life. It's hard to come down to the level of the rest of us after that.

I have no real quarrel with Tess and can see how you and Sally, as children, were entranced by her drama, glitz, travel, schmoozing of celebrities and story-telling, but any adult's hero? Re-think that, do ( ... )

Scott,

We have many hero's in our lives, all of which we choose for any number of reasons. Hero's are not perfect, they all have flaws, but they speak to us in a way others don't. They give us something that we need that we don't seem to get from others. We've talked about your Aunt Tess many times over the years. Having never wanted children myself and wanting to have the world as my playgound, I think she would have been a hero to me too!

I love you guys!
Patty

Damn right Patty. Hero's help us know we have other choices when the ones handed us at birth don't seem to fit. You are living your dreams and not trying to conform to the situation you were born into. I am sure you will be a hero and inspiration to some of your kin and a puzzlement to others. I would testify that you are certainly not perfect, but you sure are are the perfect you... and that is a hand full and someone worth knowing appreciating and admiring. Bye the way, thanks so much for your love and support through all this business we are going through. Gail and I feel stronger, knowing you are there with us. You have always had my back, and I love you for it.
