We do understand, I'm sure, Scott. The times of being disheartened are part of the process, and I'm pretty sure we all know that. In fact, you are and continue to be a wonderful inspiration to me, even when you are crossing rough waters. Love, and love. Oh, and lots of love to Gail, Charla, Karen and your great kiddos and their families.

As Trish says, we all understand that you'll have your ups and downs. It would be surprising if you didn't! You're still an inspiration to us, no matter what happens. I'm so glad you're able to have stable, relaxed times, at least some of the time. You've got a wonderful support group, and my hat's off to them, too.
Love, Judo

Hello, I'm a new friend of yours. ;) I haven't had time to browse through all your back posts, but I wanted to say hello and that I appreciate "dark humor" and can relate quite well. Right now my husband's father is slowly losing his battle with cancer, and last week my mother (who is ridiculously healthy and fabulous) called to tell me she has uterine cancer and will need a full hysterectomy. The good news is they caught it very early and she should be "fine" after surgery ( ... )

welcome, new friend. Isn't that Asakayume something? I have received a whole lot of pleasure and peace checking in on her blog. I think you will always find a delightful core of people called to community service and good deeds used to create meanining in their lives. My hope is tath with the new national political sceen, we we will see more ann more of it, but my experience is there are always folks of good will near by.

Thanks for your encouragement. I just discovered Studs Terkel's books and recordings and am delighted by what I'm hearing, may he rest in peace. :)

Also I attend Quaker Meeting and have met some really wonderful people there who are devoted to service.

And yes, asakiyume is a wonder! She is my single favorite LJ friend. She always has the most interesting posts, photos, and stories. :)

Best to you, and thanks for your reply. :)

"and life is far from pure hell"

Good, good. We all know that LJ is often the place we go in the hard moments.
Thanks for keeping us posted Scott, on both the UPs and the DOWNs of your experience.
Thanks to everyone who is helping you here and in all your various other tasks and needs.
