Oh just shit. I'm so sorry to hear this. And you are right that we come to expect that sincere effort and determination and persistence will win out in the end. And in your situation, that doesn't always hold true. Ye olde body wins, and it is relentless, isn't it?

Sorry to hear the sling thing didn't work. I know you were counting on it.

In one way, our entire lives are one long "adjustment to failure". From the moment of our conception until we die, we face an ever-conscricting passage of possibiliites. Learn a second or third language fluently? Extremely hard after the age of 5. Become a doctor? Not likely unless you focus on it from age 15. Master the violin? Only if you start before age 10. Become a billionaire? Well, we all know the answer to that one.

My point is that looked at in this light, our lives are one long decline to death. And towards the end, which you unfortunately know more about than most of us, the constriction accelerates. We lose more and more each day.

But you have been a shining light in your ability and willingness to embrace the positive, even in the face of your losses. I appreciate the spirit in you and always want to hear how you're doing. Please don't stop.
