I met the other interior designer yesterday. We walked around the house and talked what I like. Then we sat in the kitchen and chatted about two hours. She was very nice, but there were a few things that I did not like. First was her idea about the bookshelf in the living room. Spanish style. (NEVER!) Rustic. (MAYBE, but Scandinavian.) Or perhaps Ikea. (NO!)
The other thing was that I need a place to work, but it can not look like a home office. Her idea seemed to be too much like home office. Damn.
Then she said that she would like the living room walls to be painted gray. Hmmm... that seems to be in fashion, but I don't like the idea. These are the main colors right now:
I want to have a combination of modern and old and neutral walls. Like in the kitchen. The colors are the christmas colors, normally the sofa colors are different.
The sauna/shower room caused some problems too. I want it to be dark with beautiful lights. She thought that it was a good idea. BUT all of a sudden she said that there should be some turquoise tiles. OH NO NO NO! I like turquoise, but there won't be any color on the walls. Except a little aquarium detail.
She had some good ideas too, but of course she did not say a lot, because this was just a meeting and I did not pay for it.
Later in the evening I checked her website and blog. Unfortunately I did not like those.
I like the other designer better when it comes to the photos of her designs. But she did not give any opinions and no ideas when we met. I understand, because you are supposed to pay for those. But it is also a big problem. Now I don't know what kind of ideas she has, maybe I don't like her ideas at all. I have no idea if I like her as person. Maybe we don't connect at all. She will also come to my home only once. Other meetings will be at their office. The other designer will bring all the paints and other materials here so I can see them in the right places, which is much better.
The price is another story. The first one I met earlier gave her price: 2400 euros. The one I met yesterday: 800 euros. So the first one is exactly three times more expensive. It's not all about the money, but I don't know the first one at all, she gave me nothing of herself when we met. Would she really be worth paying that much money as I like the other one too.
Should I pay for two hours, invite her here and talk with her about her/my ideas? Blah! Difficult to choose between them.
