I just learned that Forbes magazine, at the time Batman Begins was released, did a rough estimate of how much it would cost for someone to "become" Batman. Their figure was about 3.5 million dollars.
One estimate of the current running total of the cost of war in Iraq, based on congressional estimates, is about 204.4 billion dollars.
That money could have been used to make over 58,400 Batmans.
I bet that would make the world more secure.
