Hey, can somebody tell me how tofu tastes? Does it taste like any other food out there, or does it have a taste of its own? I'm curious. And if it's something that I'll actually enjoy, that'll be one more healthy thing I can tolerate. So, yeah, what does tofu taste like ( Read more... )

The wonder of tofu that it takes on the flavor of whatever surrounds it. Plain tofu has a very bland, nothing taste to it.

I highly recommend giving it a try, though. The Yabba Pot is a good vegetarian restaurant in Bmore and they usually have some sort of tofu selection.

And if you like I can send you some tofu recipes that I like.

Oh, and I don't know if you like Farmer's Markets, but there is always a couple (I'm pretty sure they're husband and wife) at the Waverly one (on 33rd and Greenmount) who serves the most delicious vegan food. Like, even my non-veggie roommates loved the food.

I'd love some recipes, Sid! I can't cook for crap, but I'm feelin' good about this tofu thing. Maybe I'm a good cook when I cook things that are good for me. Yeah, that's the ticket.

I'll check out the Yabba Pot and the Farmers Market. I'm excited now!

post those recipes when you get them :D I have a block of tofu in my fridge now. I only remember that it takes on the taste of whatever you cook it in, but I've got to find a way to mask the consistency of it, it's kinda soft and spongey.

I wouldn't say it tastes good, but it's tolerable. My mom is always putting in in Korean soups and that tastes good, but as far as people using it to replace meat & whatnot, I'd have to pass. Still, you might develop a taste for it and like it.

If you watch movies often or want to watch a season or two of a television show, then go for it! Honestly, I'd be paying 3 times as much if I were renting from Blockbuster. I'm cheap so I use the $10.49/month plan.
