Resuming normal service

Hey there, how is it going ? I know I haven't posted anything for a while now. I got terribly busy over the last 6 months working on a personal project. I won't tell you what the project is (hehe), but it definitely took away all my free time. Welcome back.

The conversations that you are talking about happen all the time.
I was having dinner with two doctors, and they both started talking about cancer markers, and medical tourism in India. (One was an oncologist, of course.) Finding myself helpless, I too pitched in with whatever House-isms I had memorized. :P

Its NOT because most of us are engineers or engineers-turned-MBA's man.
It's in our blood! Just count all the close friends you have - 70% of them are doing a PhD !!

Our common interests are largely responsible for the kind of conservations we have. The fact that we are all engineers gives the group a homogeneous acumen required to have such discussions. Acumen is important because it decides your ability to stay "in" conversations and not get bored.

Well, I have seen completely homogenous MBA groups in our college, who talk anything but these topics. Oh ya, all of them engineers.

Homogeneity may be necessary , but its not sufficient ("aargh" :) )

Are they engineers in the true sense of the word ? For example, when they drive their cars on a bridge, do they look out of the window and admire the river flowing underneath or do they quickly come up with the load distribution of the bridge and tell you which pothole to avoid ?
