Its the flu people. THE FREAKING FLU! Its not a terrorist attack or armageddon. Everyone is running around wearing face masks and dumping hand sanitizer all over themselves. If you aren't freaking out every winter over flu season I don't think that you should start stressing over swine flu just because that's the new "fear". Thousands of people die

I agree with this so much. I've been really interested in this from an epidemiological perspective because I'm a vet nerd and I want to give accurate info to concerned clients (like the pig farmer I visited yesterday, alongside a veterinarian who told him there were no cases in New England yet when in fact 2 cases were reported in Mass just the day before!)... but no way am I *scared* of catching it or dying from it. Jesus, I never even give thought to catching the regular flu every year.

I think a quote from BAD RAP applies here: "You can feed into the fear mongering media frenzy and stay a scared little bitch for the rest of your life... or you can really educate yourself" [and get the fuck over it].
