Spina Bifida

So on Monday, during one of my 3 weekly Medicaid Rules meetings we were discussing various income types. Also I like hearing stories like this right now because I'm like- if you grandparents could do this, how difficult could it be to take care of a baby who doesn't have an exposed SPINAL CORD??

Just one more reason to think your mom is awesome. They do a whole lot of screening tests now to detect spina bifida in utero now too. When detected if they don't do the in utero surgery, they often will opt of deliver via c-section and schedule the surgery for the same day. If your mom was a vaginal birth and not paralyzed she is nothing short of a miracle.

Yep definitely a vaginal birth. I wonder if her being a bit smaller (less than 5 lbs) helped the cause. It is pretty amazing though.
