Hello, Vinland Saga fans. This fandom is just so tiny, it's precious.
I am Toby, I recently became a fan of the series after scarfing down the entirety of the manga over three very sleepless nights, and I'm hoping that since the series is still going on, there's potential for more popularity and activity amongst fans.
I am going to be cosplaying

Hi, I think I like you!
If you don't mind my asking, what did you make the helmet itself out of? I think I figured out what the detail parts are, but i can't for the life of me figure out the base.
I love the idea of TechnoViking, but I think he's too obscure Read:AWESOME for most congoers to get?

I made the base/bowl of the helmet with cardboard and hot glue and then slathered it up with a buttload of spackling plaster and sanded that down to a roundish shape. The detailing on front is cardboard (cereal boxes and shipping boxes both), polymer clay rivets and hot glue design. (All covered in copious amounts of black acrylic paint and silver rub-n-buff)
I showed Technoviking to my sister to bounce the idea off of her, and she didn't like him. :( What is her deal?
I had the idea of maybe having Canute suddenly realize he's in front of an audience and get terrible stage fright, as he does. (The walk-ons are narrated by an MC, so the audience could get the whole concept spoonfed to them)

Woah, I wasn't expecting cardboard for the base! I figured that the strip across the center was cardboard just because I could see a corrugated pattern, and rivets (or... brads? is that what they're called) for the rivets (fancy that!). and then puff paint/hot glue for the design. That's really impressive! I want to cosplay Canute someday myself, so I will totally start eating cereal! XD
Oh my god what? How could anyone not love Technoviking? I've noticed that he has mutant ab muscles. You could make fake abs?
I'm wondering if there's some short, viking-related Monty Python sketch? I know they had a viking character that would show up at random. If I recall, he's in the famous spam sketch.
Edit: Subsequently, if you wanted to go for badass!Canute, you could walk on to some viking metal or something?

(Haven't actually seen that movie. Should probably get on top of that, y/y?)

As for walk on ideas... Sometimes just doing something in the moment tends to leave more of a lasting memory than anything? I know it's not really helpful in terms of planning but it's all I can think to offer as my brain slowly works towards functioning. |D;;

I don't trust my own ability to improvise something neat to do on stage, and in this masquerade, the staff is very insistent that there are no surprises. (You can surprise the audience, but you will not surprise us.)

I've never been to a convention before myself, so I have little advice ;_; Techno Viking sounds fun so far O: Maybe others can provide better ideas?

One of my other ideas was just to do the walk-on/posing on stage while "What is Love (baby don't hurt me)" plays, but that would probably be waaaay too obscure of a joke. (And I'd need the friar to come with me to really make it work.)
