I have a friend who's doing post Doc work at MIT in Astrophysics. I can't say astrophysics is necessarily cool, but he's a cool astrophysicist :-D

When he talks to new people for the first time (e.g. at a bar or party) if he finds them interesting and wants to keep talking to them he tells them he's an astronomer if they happen to ask what he does for a living. If he would rather not continue the conversation (person is being annoying or what not) he tells them he's an astrophysicist. He says it typically ends the conversation within a minute or two. :)

I'd bet he'd get disappointed if he tried that with me and I were to respond with "Oh Cool! What do you think about..." though maybe if we got onto that foot, it might change his opinion. lol

Also talked to the mechanic, apparently the message I left was heard by the owner, because my car was brought in and finished first this morning, AND they'll stay after close tonight so I can pick it up. Now *that's* service.

Mmmmm...hot sauce... Can I be one of your guinea pigs?? I'm sorry Big John's takin' off. We'll have to make a trip down there once he gets settled in. If for no other reason, we should go just because they have tons of comic and anime cons out there!!! *does happy dance* I know nothing about comics but I love the vicarious excitement I get from listening to comic fans.

P.S. Nothing like a good healthy dose of astrophysics to get my brain's gears to lock up. So much for accomplishing anything more productive today...

Sure! I'll even bring a bottle of the 'original' to Dave's party. Maybe some of the modified ones, too, if they're finished.

And yes, Vegas, LA, Sacremento, and Atlanta seem to be the place where the biggest conventions occur.

I've only been to one in Atlanta about 3 years ago. Some of the work and money that people put into their costumes was just jawdropping.
