random but still important question: how many people can actually say they never label people? and for those who can't, what are your labels and why do you do it? for both answers- what are your overall opinions on labels?

I think everybody is caught labeling sometimes.
I mean, even if you THINK it. You can look at a
person with blonde hair & call them a blondie, that's a label.
I think labeling people is ok if it's what THEY ARE.
if you're putting labels on people you don't know anything about, then that's a problem, because it's like. wow judgemental! shutup! haha, get what I mean?

I can't say I don't label people. Because I call people preppy or old. And being old or saying "You can't be old, your not bald" is actually stereotypcal. So no one here can say they don't stereotype people. I believe labeling people in a negative way is wrong. Like saying.. "he's goth, so he's dumb" The word goth itself gives a negative connotation; it doesn't mean you have to take it that way.

wow. what an awesome answer. basically exactly what i was thinking. when i see someone in all abercrombie sweaters and little plaid skirts, i cant help but think, she must be a suck up and a prep. even though that totally might not be true. but its unavoidable. i also agree with the whole negative thing, it really depends on the way people take it.

completely agreed. No one on this forum thing should say "I've never labeled people" when someone is sitting a wheelchair with their arms curled in, what do you think? handicapped. But it's the way you take it that makes it a label. Just the word label has a negative connotation. But if you think about it "blondes have more fun" (which is stereotyping) is somewhat positive.

ya i am caught labeling sometimes. im not sure if calling someone "asian" is a label but ya. its just another excuse for stereotyping. i sometimes think that people wearing a&f are like major preps like u said. i think another one is people who wear converse are like punks but that is really untrue. i guess lables surround us and you cant help but label people unless you have been labeled urself.
