I know this is like a month late; i recently read an article about obsolete andriod phones, and how vendors are *still* shipping phones with versions of andriod that are past their expiration (won't receive bug/security fixes, etc), and vendors have a horrible record of allowing installing newer versions of andriod on 'em. they kinda want you to buy a new phone instead. And for apple, despite wanting you to buy a new phone, they've supported the newer versions of their software long after the phone has been announced. Based on obsolescence, i think iphone wins out. I have no other metric to go by -- never owned and don't really want to own a 'smart' phone. :P
