At the moment, I've been looking at this one:

That is a nice camera, I know several friends who use that model and so long as you understand how to use an SLR camera aswell, you will be able to utilise the manual functions on this one too. It's not a pro camera as in you can't use proper lenses and the macro clarity won't be good and the depth of field won't be as strong, but it will let you take a lot of very good pictures and if you memorise all the functions, they will look quite professional!

I have the Fuji S5500, and I am more than happy with it. It's not a DSLR, but it has enough manual functions in order to keep me quite content (until I have a spare $1500 so I can buy a newer/nicer camera) Like Sam said, it would be quite unfortunate to buy it and not know enough about how to use the manual functions to get the best out of the camera. If you don't know much about aperture, shutter-speed etc, there is really no point - you're better off saving yourself $200 and buy a pretty decent snapshot 3MP camera which will give you really clear/crisp digital results. If you do buy the S6000 there are few lens' you can buy for it - namely telephoto and fisheye (which Fuji retail for about $100 each) you can also buy other brand lens' (I have an Olympus) as long as they're the same size as your adapter lens. I have an Olympus photo printer and the print quality of my camera is pretty damn good too. Definitely recommend the Fuji in terms of quality, beautiful snappy lens'.

Camera shopping is so hard, good luck!

Yeah I saw the S5500 today when I was having a looksie. I have a decent idea about manual functions on a camera and am still apt to learn more but by the sounds of it, I think I will settle for this camera. Thanks sooo much! ♥

Yeah the S6000 is just a replacement for the S5500 (as it is now a discontinued model)with a few additive MP's(which would be barely noticeable for on-screen use, which is what you'd use it for mainly). If you can get the S5500 and save a $100 or two, it'd probably be really worth your while. I bought mine when it was first released and have had absolutely nothing bad to say about it - there are tiny manual features I wish were more precise - but you get that.

The SLR-like body is very nice to hold too.
