So I heard what happened with the pit lol. being a pit nazi is sometimes the right thing to do to get the job done i guess.
I went to two schools in the past two days. Here is a basic checklist:
Oberlin:
1. 45 min away from Cleveland
2. An hour away from Akron (where Grandparents, Aunt Kath and Aunt Chris live)
3. School of Music: A-FRIKIN-MAZING! omg you have noooooooo idea. I know none of you know the opera singer Marilyn Horne, but she has sung everywhere, the Met, La Scala, Paris, London... and she just finished teaching a 3-day master class there
4. Competition: Extremely competitive, at least in music
5. Education: a bunch of flexibility in what classes you take, like I could do greek history and optics, or music performance and microbiology
6. Politics: UBER liberal. Anti-society kids go there, but also hippies (i bet a lot of pot going on)
7. Greek life: None (not really their thing)
8. Tuition: About $40,000
Baldwin-Wallace:
1. 20 min away from Cleveland
2. Half hour away from Akron
3. School of Music: Good teachers, ensembles and education, but older, less clean facilities
4. Competition: Not so much, more friendly
5. Education: More pigeon-holed into which classes you have to take to get the degree
6. Politics: Conservative, but open to ideas
7. Greek life: Alive, but hardly any substance problems, they focus more on scholarship and community service
8. Tuition: About $22,000
Conclusions: I liked Oberlin... that's my personal opinion. It was prettier and it seemed a little more alive and exciting. Plus an outstanding art museum. Mom liked Baldwin Wallace mostly because of the tuition, the fact that its closer to the relatives (which is nice), and the more conservative politics.
Verdict: We'll have to wait and see. I still have yet to see FSU, Stetson, Florida Southern or Wash U. in St. Louis.
I miss you all very much. and YAY we won the football game.
talk to you all soon. kisses.
