So after taking Xander for a walk today I return to the house to find the cats in quite a state! Snakefood was in front of the window and  and I heard something skitter behind the fax machine, suddenly a  BIRD pops up from behind it and lands back on the ground. My field guides don't show a range for the Great Tailed Grackle much North of San Diego, but if it was a blue and black bird with a really long tail, then it most likely was a Grackle. It may have been blown up here in the recent storms or else be someone's escaped pet.

I've seen grackles at crissy field and at the alameda bird sanctuary. I guess they've been spreading up for a few years. They're so pretty.
