A/N:  Birthday fic for thundersquall!

The gray coloured kitten yawned, stretched and pushed his pink nose against the window. He nodded to himself and decided that today was the day. Today was the day he would pick out his person and leave his siblings. Leaving his siblings would be painful but he knew that it was time.

The kitten looked thoughtful at a tall person who was looking in. The person could do with some colour the kitten decided, just plain black was a bit boring, but the person was wearing some silvery things hanging from his ears, which looked interesting. The kitten decided that they made up for the lack of colour of his clothes. The kitten stared intensely at the man and was very satisfied when he entered the pet shop.

The kitten looked up at the man demandingly when he stopped in front of him.

“Hello there little one.” The man said. “You’re pretty cute. I think Ryeowook would find it ok if I came home with a cat. To be honest I want a turtle or maybe a snake, but I don’t fancy finding myself homeless and boyfriendless which might be a huge-“

The kitten tilted his head slightly to the side and watched the man rambling on. It seemed that he had chosen a slightly silly person. The kitten decided it was time to get his person’s attention.

“Mewr!” He said in a somewhat squeaky voice and rolled onto his back, showing off his stomach, and looking wide eyed at his person.

His person didn’t stop talking nonsense but he did bend forward and scratched the kitten’s tummy. The kitten decided that his person had very nice hands, and that he was a perfect tummy rubber.

Yesung smiled in delight when the small kitten started purring and then the little cat gripped his hand with its small paws, and Yesung was surprised that it didn’t use its claws. The kitten then stretched his neck a bit and gave Yesung’s hand a couple of licks.

“You have a very sharp tongue, little one.” Yesung said. “But you seem to be a very gentle soul.”

“You are very right sir.” One of the shop assistants said. “This little one here is very gentle, but he is pretty stubborn too and actually pretty shy. I’m surprised that he’s being so sociable today. Normally he stays in the background and lets his siblings get all the attention.”

Yesung scooped up the gray kitten and cuddled a little bit with him. The kitten gently swatted at his nose and again Yesung noticed that no claws were used.

“You little rascal.” Yesung murmured fondly, he looked at the assistant. “You said it’s a he?”

“Yes.” The assistant nodded.

“Does he have a name?” Yesung asked.

“No, we just call the kittens easy names like Gray, Black, Pink and so on to tell them apart but we don’t give them names, that’s up to the new owners.” The shop assistant said kindly.

“Oh great.” Yesung looked down at the kitten in his arm and who blinked sleepily at him. “I think I’ll call you Sungmin.” Yesung nodded to himself. “Yes, strangely enough I think that name will suit you just fine.”

The kitten looked up at his person and yawned. Sungmin. Yes, he could live with being called that the kitten decided and purred in contentment. His person’s arms were pretty comfortable.

Sungmin looked wide eyed at his new home where his person had brought. He sniffed delicately at the air and he came to the conclusion that he had just gotten himself another person too.

“Now-“ Yesung whispered to him. “-be a good kitten and charm Wookie, ok? And no scratching on the furniture.”

Sungmin snorted, he did not scratch on furniture, he was very well brought up thank you very much.

“Wookie-ah!” Yesung shouted. “Sorry I’m late but I, ah, found someone today.”

Sungmin almost hit the roof, he had not expected how loud his person could be. He fluffed himself up and hissed and when he heard the footsteps of someone else he quickly hid behind the carrier.

“Yesung, you’re late.” Ryeowook said in a calm voice. “I was afraid you’d have gotten lost again.”

Sungmin watched his person give his new other person a kiss.

“It happened once, Ryeowook. Once!” Yesung said in a pained voice. “And only because I was busy thinking about something else.”

Sungmin decided that it was time his persons paid him some attention, besides if he’d let his Yesung person continue talking he’d probably fall asleep since his person had a very soothing voice. When he wasn’t yelling that is.

Sungmin took a deep breath and then walked up to his new person, Ryeowook his Yesung had called him. Sungmin sniffed and realised that he knew his new person Ryewook’s smell. His Yesung had very much of Ryeowook’s smell on him.

Sungmin walked up to Ryeowook, whose attention was all on his spluttering boyfriend, and sat down in front of him.

“Mewr.” Sungmin said. “Mewr!”

Sungmin watched in satisfaction as his Ryeowook looked down and saw him.

“A kitten!” Ryeowook exclaimed in a happy voice before sitting down on the floor and holding out for Sungmin to sniff at. “It’s so cute!”

“His name is Sungmin.” Yesung said. “And I thought he’d make a nice addition to our household.”

‘Sure you did.’ Sungmin thought while pushing his head against his Ryeowook’s hand. Sungmin decided that his Ryeowook was a very good at making him feel nice.

“Has he got all the shots he needs?” Ryeowook asked Yesung.

“I think so, the shop assistant said that he’d need another shot in six months and that we might want to get him neutered then too.” Yesung said with a wince.

‘Vet?’ Sungmin stopped purring and started backing away, but before he could make a run for it his Ryeowook picked him up and was cradling him against his shoulder.

“You’re such a smart kitty, aren’t you Sungminnie?” Ryeowook murmured. “Such a smart kitty.”

‘What his Ryeowook’s hands were doing to him should be illegal.’ Sungmin thought. He couldn’t help himself, he couldn’t stop purring.

“So it’s ok if we keep him?” Yesung asked a bit nervously.

“You try to take him back to the shop and you’ll be sleeping on the couch.” Ryeowook said over his shoulder.

Sungmin watched his Yesung beam after his Ryeowook.’ Good.’ Sungmin didn’t like it when others were fighting around him.

Sungmin managed to get up onto to the bed. ‘How dare his persons’ think that he should sleep on the floor on top of a pillow?’ Sungmin crouched down, wiggled his butt, getting ready for the kill, and jumped right on top of his Yesung’s chest. ‘That’d teach him!’

Yesung looked up in surprise at the slight added weight on top of him and found himself staring into a pair of very annoyed green eyes.

“Mewr, meeewwwrrr, mewr!”

Yesung blinked a couple of times and then the cat delicately stepped off him, stalked the short way up to his pillow and lay down with a humph, right beside Yesung. Sungmin’s fur was very silky Yesung thought.

“Umm, Wookie-ah, I think Sungmin doesn’t like his pillow.” Yesung said to his half asleep lover.

“Mhmm, sure he does.” Ryeowook mumbled.

“Ah, no actually I think he doesn’t.” Yesung said a bit distractedly, he found the purring noise and gentle vibrations beside his ear to be strangely soothing.

“Love, just go to sleep.” Ryeowook said and squeezed the hand he was holding .

Yesung just nodded and put his free hand on top of the purring kitten, gently stroking him.

Sungmin sat down on his rump and looked unbelievingly at one of his two people. The kitten sighed and then he sneezed, lifting up one front paw and repeatedly rubbed his nose against it.

“Sungminnie, are you getting a cold? Aish!” Yesung kneeled down and picked the kitten up, holding him under his armpits and looking him in the eyes. “Wookie is going to kill me when he comes back and you’re ill.”

Sungmin wrinkled his pink nose before sneezing Yesung right into his face. Since it made such a huge target in front of him, it was very hard to miss, Sungmin did feel a little bit bad about it though. But only a little bit.

“Yuck! Sungmin!” Yesung dropped the kitten and wiped his face with a grimace. “Bad kitten!”

Sungmin rolled his eyes, it wasn’t his fault that Yesung had spilled flour all over the kitchen in his quest to make, in Sungmin’s opinion, a simple pie. The flour had unerringly found its way into Sungmin’s sensitive nose, not to mention his fur, and that was the reason he was sneezing.

Yesung looked around the kitchen and winced, he better hurry up or he’d end up sleeping on the couch again. The couch was comfy but he didn’t like it that much. Yesung looked down at the former gray coloured kitten, now white and started giggling.

Bad move. You do not laugh at a cat without consequences. Sungmin narrowed his eyes and decided he needed to have a serious talk to his human.

Yesung swore when he felt the razor sharp claws digging through his jeans and he swore even louder when the kitten reached his t-shirt. Yesung quickly grabbed the kitten with one hand and dusted him off with the other.

“Really Sungmin, haven’t we talked about this? No using me as a climbing tree. I don’t get it, you don’t do it to Ryeowook.” Yesung grumbled. “Hmm, I think I’m going to have to give you a bath after I’ve cleaned up the kitchen.”

‘A bath? Like hell he was!’ As soon as Yesung put him down, Sungmin was running. He knew the perfect hiding spot.

“Sungminnie-minnie-minnie! Come kitty, kitty, kitty. We’ll have a nice bath and then you can have some cream.”

Sungmin made himself smaller and backed even further into his corner under the bed. Did he look like a fool? Bribery was not going to work on this kitten.

Yesung rolled his eye, he knew exactly where the little fur ball was hiding, the same place where he always hid. Under the bed. He knelt down and saw his cat huddling up in the corner furthest away from him.

“Yah, you do realize of course that you are going to get bathed whether you like it or not, don’t you?” Yesung asked before reaching out and pulling the mewling kitten out. “Come on little one, it’s not the whole world and you’ll smell nice afterwards.”

‘I beg to differ!’

Yesung carried the protesting kitten into the bathroom and without any warning he put his struggling burden down in the tub, which was already filled with lukewarm water. The kitten tried to get up but Yesung had a firm a grip on him and in the end Sungmin gave up and sat down with a huff, but not before giving his caretaker the evil eye.

“You’re such a cutie!” Yesung exclaimed before dunking the kitten.

Sungmin felt himself being lifted and then something was put over his head, covering him, and he was being rubbed down. His human was talking nonsense, as usual, and then the towel was lifted away from him and then a hair dryer was basically showed in his face.

‘ Why me?’ Sungmin whimpered.

Yesung gently dragged his hand through the kitten’s fur, making sure that he was dry. As soon as he had shut off the hair dryer Sungmin had started purring and now he was nodding off in Yesung’s lap.

“See, that wasn’t so terrible.” Yesung murmured, standing up with the kitten in his arms. “So much fuzz about nothing.” He planted a kiss on top of the silky head. “I’ll just put you on the couch and I can finish setting the table. I hope Ryeowook will like the pie I’ve made.”

“Yesung, I’m home!” Ryeowook stomped his feet, getting rid of the snow on them and hung up his coat. He smiled, he could tell by the smell that his boyfriend had already made dinner.

A light push against his shin, and a quiet purring sound made Ryeowook look down and with a delighted smile he picked Sungmin up.

“Hi Minnie, how’s your day been? Has Yesung been mean to you?” Ryeowook buried his nose in the fur. “Did he give you a bath?” Ryeowook laughed softly, before heading towards the kitchen.

Yesung was leaning one hip against the table, arms crossed and a playful pout was playing on his lips.

“You say hello to the damned cat, before you say hello to me.” He whined. “I swear you love him more than you do me.”

Ryeowook smiled and walked up to his lover.

“If you’d have greeted me at the door I’d have said hello to you first.” Ryeowook said before he reached up and pulled Yesung into a kiss. “Hello.” Ryeowook gave him one more peck before letting Yesung go.

“Hello to you too.” Yesung said with a beaming smile. “How was your day?”

“Very good, the rehearsal went very well for once and I think we’ll manage to be ready for the opening night.” Ryeowook said, sitting down at the set table. “You made pie! It looks delicious.”

Yesung pushed the kitten down from his chair and sat down, smiling in satisfaction. His effort hadn’t been wasted.

“I found a recipe for a mozzarella, sundried tomatoes and ham pie. I was pretty easy to make actually.” Yesung said modestly.

Ryeowook smiled and took a bite.

“Love, it’s wonderful.”

Yesung beamed and poured a glass of wine for Ryeowook.

“Besides making dinner what more have you done today?” Ryeowook asked.

“I tidied up a bit and then I took care of Sungmin.”

Ryeowook gave Yesung an amused and indulgent look.

“You mean you’ve been playing with the cat the whole day?”

Yesung wouldn’t meet Ryeowook’s eyes directly, instead he fiddled a bit with the silverware for a few seconds. He was feeling like a kid who had been caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

“Well, not the whole day.” Yesung said, with a small embarrassed smile. “Just a slightly bigger part of the day.”

“You’re such a pushover!” Ryeowook said with a giggle.

“I am not!” Yesung exclaimed, then he reached down and picked Sungmin up and held him in front of him, facing Ryeowook. “I’m telling you, this kitten is evil! He’s bewitched me and now I can’t leave him alone.”

Sungmin squirmed a little bit and Yesung put him on his lap, absently giving him a piece of the pie, making sure of course that it was cool enough for the kitten.

“You are so whipped!” Ryeowook said laughing.

“Am not! I’m telling you, this kitten is evil!” Yesung protested, scratching Sungmin on his stomach and getting a purr as a reward.

Ryeowook shook his head and took a sip from his glass.

“You’re delusional but whatever makes you happy Yesung.”

Sungmin lifted his paw and pawed at the closed bedroom door. He mewled sadly and tried pushing it open with his nose. His two persons were in there and they had shut him out. Sungmin had tried jumping to reach the handle but he was still too little. Soon, he promised himself.

With a small huff he curled up outside the door, miserably staring at it. They had no right shutting him out! They were his after all.

Hours later the door opened.

“Oh Sungmin.” Yesung picked up the sleeping kitten and put him on the bed. “Ryeowook, he was laying outside our door again.”

“He’ll stop doing it and go sleep somewhere more comfortable as he gets older.” Ryeowook said, after changing the last of the pillowcases.

Yesung nodded and planted a kiss on Ryeowook’s neck.

“I love you.” Yesung murmured.

“I love you too.” Ryeowook gave him a tender smile. “But I have to work tomorrow and we’ve already made love tonight and I’m exhausted.”

Yesung nodded in expectance and scooped the sleeping kitten up from the bottom of the bed and put him on top of his pillow. Ryeowook rolled his eyes, Yesung was such a softie.

Sungmin woke up, yawned and stretched. His Yesung was still sleeping and so was his Ryeowook. Sungmin started purring, he wanted to get under the blanket. Sungmin put his nose delicately against his Yesung’s neck and got the desired response. Happy Sungmin stuck his head under the blanket and began making his way down the bed. Sungmin was surprised when his Yesung abruptly sat up and pulled away the covers.

Yesung glared down at the kitten, who was looking up in surprise at him.

“You rascal!” Yesung said, he couldn’t keep the fondness out of his voice though. “You’re supposed to be sleeping, you know?”

Sungmin stared at him. ’Umm, nocturnal creature here!’

“It’s lucky for you that you’re so cute.” Yesung whispered, not wanting to wake up Ryeowook, before putting the blanket back and laying down.

Yesung couldn’t stop himself from giggling a bit when Sungmin crept up to his chest. Yesung could just make out a small nose sticking out from under the blanket. Then he felt the kitten making himself comfortable and then the gentle vibrations started.

Yesung smiled and was just about to fall asleep again when Ryeowook leaned over and kissed him.

“I didn’t mean to wake you.” Yesung said apologetic.

Ryeowook only smiled before laying back down.

“You are such a softie Jongwoon, and I love you for it.” He whispered, curling around Yesung but making sure not to disturb the fast asleep kitten on his chest.

Sungmin opened his eyes and crept out from under the covers. His two persons were sleeping soundly and watching them he felt very proud and satisfied. Sungmin looked around and found the perfect spot to sleep, it was right between his two people and stealthily he made his way there. Sungmin sighed in contentment before falling asleep again.

Ryeowook and Yesung opened their eyes almost at the same time, they looked at each other and then down on the sleeping kitten.

“He snores!” Yesung said, the disbelief could clearly be heard in his voice. “He’s a kitten! How can such a small thing be so loud?”

Ryeowook chuckled.

“Trust you to find a snoring kitten.” He said, before lovingly stroking Sungmin’s soft tummy.
