[Katsucon 16] Thursday Report

Feb 11, 2010 22:15

Greetings from Maryland, and the
FABULOUS GAYLORD NATIONAL.
(Yes. That really is the name of the hotel. Sans sparkles. Shut up. Sparkly text is sexeh.)
We (being my uncle, my mother, and myself) left the house just before eight, and officially hit the road at nine. This was because we did the usual "pre-trip/last minute" things: fill up the car with diesel, go to Tim Horton's for breakfast, pick up some last minute items and snacks at Wal-Mart...

We passed by the construction of the extended route. Next year, we'll be able to take this instead of the roads.

Also, I can't post it because of "it's a license plate" and shit, but I found a license plate with "DBZ" on it. I'd like to add that the last four numbers were NOT over 9000.

There were a shitload of accidents on our way down! I don't have the really impressive ones from what appeared to have happened yesterday, but here are some...

These are from the I-80 in Pennsylvania. All I can honestly say about this is "Holy Fuck."

We're not entirely certain where this was, but we're guessing it was on the I-270. We're assuming that the driver fell asleep.

There was another accident on an entrance ramp in D.C. We were moving slow, and it wasn't in our way. Also: Fire trucks in Fairfax County have spinny lights in the front. SPINNY SPINNY FUN!

Here's a couple shots from the inside of the Gaylord National. IT'S SO SWEET!

The convention tags are not in yet due to FedEx being twenty-four hours behind schedule; Thursday night pick-up was cancelled. It will be open tomorrow at eight.

Saw Greg Ayres. Looks like his hair is purple and silver now. xD

Found some cosplayers, but they're on my mother's camera:

Hetalia: Prussia, Russia, America
Code Geass: Euphemia, C.C.
And now, to bed. I've been up since six-thirty, and I have to wake up earlier for breakfast at that time and then get in line for my badge. Good evening, and look forward to tomorrow nights report.
