So, I know I've promised a lot of you a tutorial for months and I'm very sorry it took me so long. I also lost all my psds since my external hard drive died so I've had to recreate some of my colourings.
The example of those two bright images is SO WHAT IS NEEDED in the tutorial making world at the moment. There's far too much oversaturation to the point of distortion it's so good to see someone clarify it & guide in the good direction :)
thanks :) I wasn't sure if I explained myself correctly but I agree, saturated icons can look gorgeous if you work with the tools properly, otherwise they just look hideous.
and yes that effect is using the texture i posted up there. It's a 100x100 texture that I expanded to make the yellow more prominent. I like using it a lot and changing the colours using the hue/saturation tool if I want a different colour :)
To get that effect in that graphic I set the texture to screen and sometimes I would either duplicate the texture and set it to overlay/soft light or duplicate my orginal rupert image and paste it above the texture, setting it to overlay about 40-50%

the ones on the bottom left, with the light texture, is that same texture up there? if not, how do you achieve that kind of effect? thank you again :)
