Setting:
While talking about the Red vs Blue universe, it's important to first cover some things from the Halo universe, which RvB ties into (albeit only one-sidedly).

It's all set in the 26th century, during human colonization of space which led to the war with the Convenant. A hostile alliance that consisted of several species of aliens dead set on destruction of humanity. The official front against the Convenant was, of course, the UNSC (United Nations Space Command) and ONI (Office of Naval Intelligence).

However it was not all.

There were several secret projects that were supposed to either win the war, help with winning it, or in general protect the mankind in a hostile universe. There were the SPARTAN programs and, introduced by Red vs Blue, the Freelancer project.

Now, there are several things about the project Freelancer, created and ran by Dr Leonard Church.

1) It was supposed to train competent soldiers, teach them team work, while nurturing competitive spirit at the same time. They were told to work together, often sent on missions in teams, but there was also a board on which each agent’s scores were kept. Based on those scores, the agents were ranked and of course it was the best to have the highest score. Anyway, this is where the Red and Blue Armies come in, in part.

The two armies were made up of soldiers (so called simsoldiers, from simulation soldiers) who didn't quite make the cut to the UNSC proper and lead a nonsensical war. Which, in reality, was simply a massive experiment ground (or a simulation), so to speak and something to pit the Freelancers against as training.

Besides training, the Freelancers were often sent on serious, more dangerous missions, against real opponents.

2) Each Freelancer was stripped off their real name and given a codename corresponding to one of the 49 states of the United States (in the RvB universe, Florida has been destroyed one way or another).

3) They were given MJOLNIR Mark IV armor with certain enhancements. Each agent’s armor was coloured differently and each had it’s own special ability. For instance, in York’s case, the healing unit, in North’s case domed energy shield.

4) Along with the enhancements, most of the Freelancers were implanted with AIs at a certain point, to help operate them. Which was an experiment all on its own as well, particularly so when we take into consideration the Dakota twins, where only one of the twins was implanted.

There was one original AI that Dr Leonard Church received, that was the Alpha (which, as it was eventually revealed, was actually a copy of the mind of the Director). The Freelancers were told that Alpha was copied, but in reality, it was tortured until it fragmented itself in an attempt to protect itself. And those AIs, the fragments of Alpha representing its traits, were the ones given to the Freelancers.

5) Ultimately, the AI fragments and the treatment of the Alpha was what got the project shut down and the Director inprisoned.

Personality:

North and South, like their names, seem like polar opposites.

North is calm and remains calm even under pressure or frustrated. The latter might seem something like an oxymoron, but is actually a fact. His frustration, at most, shows in slightly raised tone of voice and speaking a bit more tensely, with perhaps some slight curses here and there. Which doesn't detract much from his generally calm and unbothered demeanor.

It goes without saying that he loves his sister and will go out of his way to keep her safe and happy. Even at the cost of his own well-being, going as far as taking the hit for her. He understands her, he knows when she needs time away from everyone (even him) and he gives her that. Though he's not above criticizing her or being a little short with her when she does do something stupid. It's not done for no reason though, only to assure she doesn't fail, get hurt or get anyone else hurt with her rash actions. It, again, comes from his caring for her, rather than anything else. He's perfectly aware of her flaws, but he also doesn't talk about it with anyone.

They know each other well with South, being twins and being treated like twins their entire lives, even up until becoming Freelancers. They received matching code-names and were often, if not always, paired together for missions. Which, when one sees them working and fighting together, isn't such a forced idea either-- they work together seamlessly. Easily anticipating each other's moves, needing only single words or short phrases to convey what they need or want.

Unlike South though, North isn't bothered by them always being stuck together in everything, always compared, treated like a pair rather than individuals.

He takes South's flipping out about changing rankings so gracefully because he gets that it bothers her, and he's aware how much it means to her. Though it might also be because he's not as competitive as her. North's more focused on getting the job done, and done professionally and safely, rather than whether or not it will put him above others in the rankings. The most competitive spirit he shows was frustration at Agent Carolina showing up at the end their mission to get them out of trouble.

He's not willing to take unnecessary risks to complete their missions, just to put himself before the others. Or make himself look better in the eyes of the Director. About the only time he shows concern for the ranking and what command things is after using the equipment in the field without a ping back to the command. Even if it was the necessary risk he was willing to take to help them escape safely.

Over all though, he seems like a nice guy, calm and collected. Fairly friendly and "playing" well with everyone. Though at the same time he is a trained soldier and Freelancer, which means he can and will fuck your shit up if necessary. He has no qualms about killing or using violence.

Abilities, Weaknesses, and Power Limitation Suggestions:
Besides the usual deal with the Freelancers such as motion trackers, thermal sensors, and voice amplifiers, he has the ability (built into his armor) to create a domed energy shield. However it requires energy and lasts only as long as his armor's energy levels allow. While it's on he's invulnerable to most weapon damage.

It's unclear whether at that canon point North's armor has been equipped with the enhanced motion tracker, which is said to work like the standard one, just with amplified abilities, like the name suggests anyway.

Inventory:
* Freelancer issue MJOLNIR armor, violet with green trimming.
* Domed Energy Shield armor ability.
* Enhanced Motion Tracker armor ability.
* Sniper rifle.
* Pistol.

Appearance:
His armor is violet with green trimming on the helmet, arms and hips.

He's a white male, seems a little taller than Agent Washington and as a Freelancer of course he is fit. He has short, light blond hair, a bit on the wavy/curly side, pale blue eyes and a scar on his left cheek. The PB of choice is Jude Law.

Age: 31/32

Samples ;
Log Sample:
North gets up slowly, carefully, rolls his shoulders, straightens his back. That fall was rather rough on him, but nothing seems broken, at most he's just a little sore, maybe bruised too. For now he can't exactly tell. And it doesn't matter, because his attention is focused immediately on his surroundings--

His pistol is right next to him, further away is his sniper rifle, must have fallen there as he was falling down. He picks both up, without really looking at them anymore, straps the pistol to his thigh, flings the rifle over his shoulder. The motions sensors were on from the beginning, as he was using them before finding himself here, but they show no movement around him. Nothing. The whole place he ended up at seems like a giant junkyard, of both things somewhat familiar or completely bizarre.

No motion on his tracker, but he still takes cover to try to contact command, or anyone at all. Figure out where he is, decide on how to go about this. "Come in, command--," he repeats a couple of times, adjusting frequencies to get through. For his efforts though, all he gets is static noise. "Figures," North mutters to himself with a sigh and perhaps with a slight hint of exasperation.

Then he tries to reach South, with much the same results. He’s hardly afraid, no, but it’s an uneasy feeling to find himself in a place like this and unable to contact anyone. "Guess I’m on my own for now," but he doesn’t stay idle for much longer than that. The next second he’s on his feet, moving towards a dot on his display. Movement. Still far, but clearly heading his way. Well, can’t hurt to meet it in the middle, on his terms, whoever or whatever it is.

Network Sample:
[he has taken a few moments to scan the network right when he arrived, that is after a few tries of reaching command. it's not that hard to recognize his fellow agents' voices. so the first message is encrypted to any and all Freelancers on the station, broadcasting just voice:]

freelancer encryption:
North to other Freelancers on the station. Anyone care to fill me in?

public:
[the feed is still set to voice. and for now he will leave it at that.]

Did anyone inform our host that this greeting is a little insufficient?
