You know what LJ needs so so badly?

Like buttons.

I've been on here for a week or so, and I feel their absence profoundly.

(I'm guessing I'm probably not the first person to say this.)

(If this were Tumblr or Facebook, this post would probably get several 'likes'. I'm just gonna imagine that they're there.)

Actually, I think the absence of like buttons is an advantage, because it forces people to engage with a post in greater depth in order to be able to leave a comment to it. However, as soon as everyone's become too lazy to comment anymore that system doesn't work, of course.

They weren't something I ever missed until I got used to tumblr (I don't have facebook). And then somehow having that "like" button trained me out of commenting. Now I spend lots of time looking at other people's posts on LJ/DW going, "Um, now what do I do?"

In the lj_feedback-Community there recently was a discussion post whether to introduce such a feature or not.
It ended with the result to not introduce it at this time because there have been many who supported the idea, but also many who didn't like it. The resonance was very mixed.

like. ;)

seriously, tho, comming back over here reminds me why I lurked for the last 15 years. It's been much easier for me to ease into active fandom participation on tumblr bc it feels much less "pressure-y" to hit like or reblog on a post, and start to add comments, as opposed to LJ, where it's always felt very all or nothing to me. But that could just me my social anxiety (which I only really have online, go figure) acting up.
(ps: probably super obvious, but this is eiael-thinks from tumblr. ^^)
