hot water rises just like hot air-- the principle is that as it is is trying to change states the atomic weight of the particle become more bouyant than its enviornment as the particle tries to expand and that accounts for your dish washing experience.

I am somewhat aware of the physics, I just wanted to explain the expirience in detail. My assignment in my Acting class was to take a meal and remember it, then describe it in detail. Sharon is my instructor.
