Big stories

Jan 19, 2004 01:06

I ventured out tonight and saw "Big Fish". I was expecting to sob and sob. Most people have told me that it made them cry. I cried a little bit, but not as much as I was expecting to, with the way people made it sound. It made me think a bit though. Would it be better to see people as they are, or how they wish to be seen?

I totally saw myself in ( Read more... )

I know what you mean. I feel like I never appreciated my great-grandma until she was gone. She was an amazing woman, and I'd love to just talk to her again. I guess real understanding of such things can really only come from loss.

Love, Bill

Yeah my Grandma had such a great personality. I drove very close to her house every day for a year or more, and just never had time to stop and then she passed away. But I am glad I got to know her at all.

I hope your day is going well. I love you bunches!

I could go on and on, but for once, I'll spare you. One thing I will say is that I have a cassette tape, and on it is the voice of my great-grandmother (who died when I was 19), telling the story of her life. It's truly amazing. And every now and then, when I really miss her, I know I can pull out that tape, and listen to her voice recounting some truly amazing tales. It's one of my most priceless treasures.

I've been told by someone else that this movie really makes one think. I will have to see it. I'm thinking I might read the novella first, in preparation for the film, but I'm not sure of that.

P.S. I met your sister last night at RI. She's such a sweetie!

I did an interview with my dad, a few years back, about his life, etc. He's 81 now, and very frail, so I know that that tape will be a precious relic, someday.

BTW, I have been neglecting to say thank you for your kind thoughts regarding my little boy, when he was sick last week. He's thriving now, eating like a horse, and so looking forward to starting school next week.

That is awesome. My Uncle passed away this last year and he was a baptist minister, he released a cd before he passed away. When I just need a little assurance in life I listen to his cd. Hearing him sing the hymns that I used to sing with him in church, makes life's problems seem so small.

I am so glad you met Audra. She is as sweet as they come. I hope we can meet up sometime soon. I am jealous that she got to meet you first!
Take care and God Bless!

That's so great about your uncle's CD. So I take it you grew up with at least somewhat of a church background?

We'll definitely have to meet one of these days. You seem really nice. :-) Have a wonderful evening... or day (depending on when you read this!)

I was just thinking this today. I was listening to this song by prince, called "Sometimes It Snows In April". made me think about how precious the time we get actually is.
