Depressing songs...

Dec 23, 2004 09:46

I was making a cd to listen to and I realized some of the songs on it are really horribly sad... Got me to thinking about which songs are really wonderful to be sad to, and why. Here you go~

cut so I won't ruin your holiday cheer... )

The sad songs are usually the best, aren't they?

They are...

I think this crap that gets pushed down your throat at Christmas, about being happy and cheerful, is such an amazing crock of shit...

It's snowy here, it's a good time to be introspective.

I hope you enjoy the holiday where you are, Tim.

Thanks. I hope you have a nice time too Cheryl.

And you're so right. Whenever I hear Mariah Carrey's "All I want for Christmas" on the radio, I put my hands over my ears and go 'LALALALALALALALALALA' really loud. People think I've finaly gone insane, but really, it's the only way to block it out of your brain.

Have a wonderful christmas. :)

You mean you haven't already gone insane???

No worries, I may be ahead of you in the insanity department, you don't need to feel alone...

Thanks for the Christmas wishes.

How about Suede's "The Next Life"? Most. Depressing. Song. Ever.

"See you in your next life when we’ll fly away for good,
Stars in our own car we can drive away from here

Far away, so far away, down to worthing and work there
Far away, we’ll go far away and flog ice creams
’til the company’s on it’s knees...

...see you in your next life when we’ll fly away for good."

I think the arrangement and the sound of his voice adds to the overall desperation that it inspires. I think happy songs are sad a lot of times though...

BTW~ I may bring Lily back to my house on the 25th. Would that be alright instead?

That's true, it just sounds so depressing, and the title makes it sound as if he's talking to someone that's just died.

Anyways, taking Lily back to your house on Christmas is fine with me. Call me Christmas morning then and let me know where you're going to drop her off at. Also, if it's more convenient to meet me somewhere to pick her up, we can do that too.
