So. I'm doing Japanese Honours this year and half of my dissertation for that is a translation of a 10-page-or-so article. So at the start of this semester my supervisor and I decided on an article which was 11 pages and which I thought was relevant and interesting. I scanned the pages so I didn't have to have the book on me to translate stuff, and ( Read more... )

But it's only the draft due, right? That's nothing to worry about. You seem to be far ahead compared to most people I knew doing AS honours last year. I have to say I'm envious of you for doing the translation, as well - nobody told me that was an option when I did my thesis, and I'd much rather have done something practical like that than a longer thesis!

Nothing's due until the final thing is due at the end of the year. I really, really want to get it done because I know I'm going to find the essay part much more difficult and I want the whole semester to concentrate on it, since I know that's going to be hard enough while balancing the asian studies core unit (which I have a LOT of trouble with. Luckily the lecturer is amazingly patient with me). I wouldn't have done honours at all if I hadn't known I could do half translation XD

Haha, I think I spent most of my time in the core unit pestering the tutors with pedantic questions, so they'd have to be patient! My advice on that is to make sure you know the core readings and one other, and at least they'll know you've put in the work.
