well to answer your first question, the only thing I've been able to find as far as sheet music goes is fiddling stuff, thats what I do so it works for me, not sure if u like to fiddle, but heres the site I use. thesession.org and http://breizhpartitions.free.fr/en/p_violon.php
as for your second question, there aren't pedals made for the violin, what you need to use is guitar pedals for a violin I'd recomend an overdrive for a crunchy sound, a distortion just doesn't sound all that great in my opinion. as far as site goes check out www.musiciansfriend.com and www.wwbw.com both are great sites and have some of the cheapest prices you'll find.
i have a guitar pedal with a lot of differnet options on it.would i need an electric violin for that? IF not what kind of hookup does it require, i see that i have a mic hookup, if that helps. thanks a lot
I would think you can just hook up your violin to the pedal with a standard 1/4 inch instrument cable. There are no effects pedals I know of that are specifically made for violin. However guitar pedals can work very well . It's just a matter of option. You just have to try them out for yourself.
Preamps can help take the pizo sound out of your violin. Again it's opinion. You may like the pizo sound of an electric violin. I just like the option of having my electric violin being capable of sounding like a violin.
You also may want to check out multi effects pedals. I have a sucky one. I'm planning to upgrade when I save up enough money. I just want to have a massive amount of options for my sound. Many guitarists bash multis for not being able to reproduce certain sound or guitarist accurately but violinist don't need to worry about that though. Again it's all up to you to find what sound you want.
I hope that helped. Welcome to the community!!!!!!
