Violin question

Hello I am new here I am 29 and considering taking up the violin for the 1st time. I would like to learn to play as a hobby I would love to be able to play some folk music and maybe some simple classical music on a violin

It's important for you to start out right. If possible, find a school band teacher who can show you the basics. My friend did that after she bought an inexpensive violin at a store that catered to school bands, and it hardly cost her anything. She had NO money to spare. Then was able to download sheet music and there was one site where she had the computer playing a song very slowly. She was able to adjust the speed to her liking and pause it when she needed to. I was amazed at the tools available on the internet. When she felt she could play a piece well enough, she would make an appointment with the teacher to go over the fine points. Good luck. I don't play but I absolutely love to listen to a violin.
