you've been playing as long as me ;) that's awsome

i'd recommend getting a pickup for your violin. They range from $30-$130

also, try asking people at a local string-specializing store for reccommendations for good electirc violins if you don't want the pickup.

i hope that helped a little ^^;

thanks for the advice!! :) I dunno if I want a pickup, I already play louder than all the violin sections in my orchestra put together! I was looking at electrics more for the difference in sound, and ability to plug into an amp (i like to jam w/ my friends' heavy-metal band) but thanks, that did help!!

OHOH good advice, distortion pedal=awesome, seeing as I'm a huge nirvana fan and love any distorted electric-y sound

If you're going to be playing with a band and want an electric sound, I'd advise against a pickup - you are likely to get feedback at high volumes. Pickups are generally used by players who want an "amplified acoustic" sound rather than an "electric" sound ( ... )
