Need help!

We now have furniture, but are debating on the best way to arrange it. So, I look to you guys for advice. There are 3 possibilities. I won't say which one of us likes which so there's no bias. One of the arrangements has 2 angles simply for a better view. (lighting wasn't the best...) So, which arrangement do you think looks best? We will ( Read more... )

Definitely #3

...unless that's the one Dirk likes. If so, than anything other than 3 :P.

Whaaaat? #3 makes it difficult to walk into the area and makes it look overcrowded! My vote is for #1. Makes it look more balanced and more open.

I just relooked at the pictures since you said overcrowded and I realized what I meant was the third picture which is called Arrangement 2 Angle 2. So yeah, I switch my vote Val.

...unless Dirk likes it >_>

...I should also get more weight being that the baby shares my name >_>

Is this all that's going into this room? Will there eventually be a coffee table, TV, or end-tables? (Is this your living room, strictly speaking, or is it the family room/living room ( ... )

We will eventually add tables (what kind and size depend on the arrangement of the furniture), but the TV is downstairs. I'm taking (most of) the pictures from the dining room, which is next to the kitchen. It's hard to see it in the pictures, but the railing is actually a lot like a railing you'd see on a porch in that it has bars with spaces between. My fear (a little strong of a word, but can't think of a milder word) is that he will get his head stuck in the railing long before he can climb. There will be a gate at the top and bottom of the stairs, so that's not really a concern ( ... )

well, unfortunately, I dont like any of them.
seems too crowded anyway, too much furniture it what appears to be a smaller space. if I was there I could visualize better, but I would say that if the loveseat covered most of the railing, which is should, put it there with space between it and the wall with the window for a end table or other such furniture. take the large couch and put one end on the oppisite wall and face it toward the window, leaving enough room inbetween the two pieces of furniture for easy access for one/two people. this will help define the room as a seperate space and not "part of the dining room. then I would take the chair and put it in the corner with the light, facing diagonal toward the opening.

that's my idea, try it and see. it leaves room for a buffet table on the backside of the couch, more room "inside" for a coffee table and/or end tables. plus it gives a lighted seat for reading/baby time and a good view of the window from the large couch.

I know that i do not like picture 1 or picture 4... the room just seems so small with the furniture to close together. I am prone to picture 2 and 3, but then they others had good points on that too. I'd try what Kelly or your friend (sorry, I forgot his name :( ) said to see how you can work it to make the room seem big and not too cluttered with furniture (so it flows well).

Outside of that, NICE FURNITURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :)
