Boys will be boys.....

It happened. Daniel already managed to get his first bragging rights....his first set of stitches! (2 to be exact) We were at church of all places. He was running around before a service started and tripped and fell into the frame of a chair, which somehow managed to give him a very large gash in his forehead. Which, being a head wound, bled ( Read more... )

stitches, daniel

He did....hopefully he stays so resilient!

Oh, I know!! I thought the outfit was adorable on the hanger, but I never imagined it could get any cuter when she actually wore it! And, she seemed to pose, which of course adds even more to the cuteness factor! It's like cuteness overload or something! I LOVE it!!

HOLY CARP he has a lot of hair already!

Anyway, I remember getting my first set of stiches when I was ~4 or 5 years old. It was something stupider (although similar). I was flying a kite and running around...inside. Didn't take long for me to hit a wall and I still have the scars.

But yes, I'm surprised you aren't freaking out. My Mom did when I got stitches.

I have to know....how exactly DID you manage to fly a kite indoors?!?

The fortunate part is, there's a fairly small-ish chance of him remembering this. I mean, it sounds traumatic enough to burn into his brain even at such a young age, but it didn't really feel that traumatic at the time and he seemed totally calm, once he calmed down after the initial impact (which maybe took about a minute or so, not too long really)

You know what's crazy? I've been playing sports 20+ years, and have never needed stitches.

This of course means I'm going to go out and do something stupid within the next couple days to need them, now that I've jinxed myself.

Everyone knows chicks dig scars, and this should help out Calvin with impressing the Suzy Derkins of the neighborhood.

Maybe you just aren't having enough fun? ;-) Seriously, I hope you don't actually end up needing stitches anytime soon. That would suck!

Daniel isn't into Suzy! Seriously....

I'm in the same league as Rob. I never needed stitches either. I broke my wrist though so that was cool and I got a scar from a hot rifle barrel.

Anyway, just wait until he starts riding bikes and skateboarding. Nothing makes a man out of you more then scraping off pieces of skin from your knees and elbows!

I really hope I can avoid the skateboarding thing....I've seen too many videos and I really want grandkids someday! ;-) He's totally into bikes already, but Dirk's holding off on buying him a bike. In the meantime, he tries to ride all the neighborhood kids' bikes and they are, of course, WAY too big! Pretty funny really.

man I remember an entire year where I tried to ride this ten speed bike I had but I could barely reach the peddles. After I could ride it I used it so much that it went through 2 sets of baring, 2 pairs of tires, 1 chain, and a set of wheels (the spokes started coming out). Oh and I had to rewrap the handlebars a few times.
