Character Name: Medusa Gorgon
Character Series: Soul Eater [manga]
Character Age: Unknown, but she’s pretty damn old.
Background:
Soul Eater Wiki for great justice. I’ll be pulling her from The Eve’s Fight to the Death, but before she battles and loses to Stein. So she’s still blonde, basically.
Personality:
Medusa isn’t exactly the nicest person you’ll ever come in contact with, despite what she wanted people to believe. When she was initially introduced in the series, Medusa was playing the part of a school nurse at the Death Weapon Meister Academy, and had everyone completely fooled into thinking she was a nice, kind woman. Underneath that disguise, Medusa is a cold, calculating witch who is perfectly willing to go to any means to further her own agenda. She infiltrates the DWMA purely in order to revive the Kishin, manipulating the staff and students to accomplish that task. And she does, ultimately, succeed.
Manipulation is one of Medusa’s strong points, as proven later in the series when she convinces Maka that Arachne, Medusa’s sister, has Chrona hostage. She also manages to manipulate the whole of Shibusen into following her plan of action to infiltrate Arachnophobia and put her in charge of the operation, despite all of them knowing the kind of person she is and her history of being an all around horrible person. She’d revived the Kishin, after all, but nonetheless she managed to convince them and, of course, betrayed them. Big surprise there. Notice the sarcasm?
Similar to Stein (and probably explaining her obsessive crush on him,) Medusa is the kind of person who views the world as her own personal playground. Pretty much everything she does is some form of experiment, and no personal attachments or feelings are more important than her experiments. She even puts Chrona, her daughter, through thorough and strenuous testing, and would punish Chrona when she didn’t live up to Medusa’s standards.
Medusa ultimately aims to spread chaos and destruction, which in part is what lead her to release the Kishin. She was curious to the effects his Insanity would have on the world, and so as one of her experiments she let him go. She is a Witch, after all, and the Witches of the Soul Eater world are quite vicious. Medusa is hardly an exception, proving herself to be a formidable foe in battle- unless, of course, she’s up against Stein, in which case she tends to get a bit distracted trying to convince him to join her side. She’s slightly obsessed with that. Just a little bit. In other words, she’s very obsessed and will stop at nothing to get Stein on her side. So watch out?
Abilities:
Being a witch, Medusa has a number of magical abilities. The most notable are her snakes hidden away inside of her body that can be summoned at will to do her bidding, or slipped inside other people to keep them under her control. She can put in place a Soul Protection, which was what helped her avoid detection during her stay in Shibusen, making her seem like a normal human being. Most of her magic powers use snakes and vectors, such as Vector Arrows that move people around as she wants them to, and Serpent Whip, which is when she has one of her snakes attack from afar. She has several other attacks, but they all follow the same idea.
Sample Entry:
My, my, what is this place I’ve stumbled upon? It seems quite… interesting. What kind of place can pull a person out of their own time and place into an entirely new setting against their will? Some strong magic is at work here… I wonder what.
I guess I’ll have to find out…
