Delightful - thank you for posting it. It's so nice to see something more than the usual critics' moan about those last couple of Granada series' fraught production.

Wasn't some of the '88-'91 gap due to the preparation for and long run of the stage play starring Brett and Hardwicke? Production only really stopped for 1989. The 1987 gap is more interesting (only SIGN was shown between Aug '86 and April '88)...

as far as i remember stage play started in 1988 (how long it lasted i don't remember, unfortunately, but it seems to me that it wasn't longer than 1 year).
Perhaps, 1987 - it was some kind of preparation time

'88-'91 gap
i agree, perhaps, it's because of the stage play ,
and we shouldn't forget about JB's health...
