Laurels party was awesome. after that, we went to marco's house and danced it up. No number of bad experiences could prove me wrong: i love latino boys. i love the way they move and dance and talk and scream and laugh and the way their eyes are dirt dirt brown like mine, and the way their hearts are big and hurt like home. i love dancing and ( Read more... )

Marcos's party was incredible. For me, I dont think it was the fact that there were latinos that made it so much fun, but just the fact that I really liked being around all of those people. We dont have parties like that often, and rarely is a party so much fun.

I think it was one of the best nights in a long time. One of the best nights ever, maybe.

And I definitely understand what you are saying about the differences between spanish and english, and the attitudes and mindsets that are associated with them. Maybe that is part of the reason why I liked Nicaragua so much. Like, when I watch a spanish movie with subtitles, it is totally different when you read the subtitles instead of listening to the people.

Ha pasado tanto tiempo en que no he hablado espanol, afuera de clase de AP Spanish. Demasiado tiempo.

Mi querido amigo,

Tu y yo vamos a hablar más español... porque la clase de AP spanish no es suficiente.
Yeah, i don't think latinos made last night's party fun. I don't think alchohol made it fun either. I think that there was this general energy that was juts awesome, and made everyone want to dance. that made me happy.
yeah, i feel like a movie in subtitles sometimes. you know, whenver i see one, i can't help but read the subtitles as i listen... and it just opens up another drawer in my mind where i'm like "that's not right"... or "that's not at all what he's saying..."
i gotta stop that.

I'm that kid you talked to for a while at Laurel's, but I wanted to say her party was awesome, but I unfortunately didn't go to Marco's. Bummer. I went tonight though, but it didn't seem to be as enjoyable as last night. Oh well.

I'm going to friend you for sure.

You went tonight? Thats crazy. It wasnt as fun, partly because we werent there. We went there for like 5 minutes, then left, and came back a couple hours later. We left because we thought it was a dull party, but we came back only to realize that we were bringing the party with us, so there was no reason for it to be dull. I mean, there were probably 10 people there before we came, and we came with 11 people. We were the one's dancing, drinking, and putting on music. Everyone else was just making out. It was a good time in the end, though. Just not as spontaneously awesome as Saturday.

Yeah, well i wasnt at Laurel's or Marcos' I was in Waterfuckingeastbumblefuckmotherfuckingcracksnortingfuckingtown, and not the Heaven I found Arlington to be. I miss Santo Domingo so, it matters little that I was there less than 2 weeks ago, when you come back here where all of our sadly momentary freedoms are snatched away from us, where we are away form our oldest friends and anybody with a similar culture, where its so cold that you can't remember the warmth brought to you by your friend on a cool night in a parking lot talking nosense going through endless cigarettes and un par de chaticas. Its sad when you realize that in two and a half years a couple of kids your age can impact you more than pretty much everybody before them. )

There's alot of shit about living on a fucking half lemon of an island like la Republica Dominicana, but i'm telling you... i don't really know what i would give to be able to step out into the sunlight drowing the broken cement of the parking lot, with all it's oil stains and plants growing out between the cracks somehow. Muchacho, to smell that air of palm trees doubling over and those damn chimis that Jose keeps the cart in the alley withall the rats, but we were born stray dogs, can turners, fucking viralatas who will eat and love and cry and scream and run across the street in a daze and think that we are the bellybutton of the universe.
i love you man,
you and i have history going down every line of our fucked up parallel lives.
