It Started With a Kiss
Kame kisses Taguchi. Not because he's drunk, not because he's desperate, not even horny but he just does.
Taguchi blinks as he steps back. "That was unexpected," he begins.
Kame shifts, wondering if he should have let the wardrobe assistant tuck his jeans into his suede boots. "Yes," he agrees. "It was." But let's do it again, he almost says.
"Yeah," Taguchi echoes. "I guess you're happy?"
Their manager interrupts, ranting about feather boas and that misplaced sequined cardigan that could a fortune and the drycleaning. Kame doesn't dwell on the kiss and lets their manager drag them off to work.

The next day, Taguchi ambles his way to work to find Kamenashi hunched over a mug of coffee that looks like it went cold a month ago.
"The kettle broke, I needed caffeine," Kame says defensively before Taguchi can comment. "I really needed caffeine. So I used lukewarm water." Never mind that the instant coffee didn't dissolve properly and tastes awful.
Taguchi nods. "Not judging," he says with a smile. He offers his own, steaming, cup of Starbucks he bought on the corner because he doesn't get mobbed on the streets. Not like Kamenashi does, at least.
Kame's about to take the cardboard cup until Koki snatches it away
"Free coffee," Koki hollers like the loud ingrate he is. (He's not really an ingrate, just a caffeine depriver, Kame seethes inwardly.)
Ueda and Nakamaru come hurtling into the break room, bickering like children over the prized cup of Starbucks coffee, never mind it was Yamashita who broke the kettle in the first place.
Kame stares, dumbfounded.
Taguchi blinks. "Well," he begins, "that was unexpected."
"Yes." Kame meets Taguchi's eyes, and he can't help the wry smile that spreads across his face. "It was."

It's when Nishikido storms up to Taguchi, raging and furious about something (apparently Taguchi could be stealing his girl in their new drama) that Kame realises that it's ShuKira all over again. But not really. They've debuted already but still, it's NEWS collaborating with KAT-TUN and what if Taguchi records a song with Nishikido?
Kame panics.
The idea of Taguchi singing a heartfelt love song with Nishikido's guitar ripping through the instrumentals is honestly rather traumatic.
When Kame mentions this to Taguchi, however, Taguchi just laughs and says, "dramatic traumatic drama!"
Kame's not very comforted.
When Kame brings this up to Yamashita (who just 'mm's and 'hmm's down his end of the phone), he realises that if Taguchi and Nishikido become a temporary unit and sell a million records, he'd have to reform with Yamashita and dance to Seishun Amigo. Again. For the -nth time. And it'd most likely be in some sort of SPECIAL UNIT 2011 PRESENTED BY JOHNNY'S & ASSOCIATES @ TOKYO DOME LIVE concert run series. And LANDS would be there.
Taguchi laughs when he hears. "Are you predicting high sales, Kazuya?"
Kame scowls at his shoes.
"Turn that frown upside down!" Taguchi reaches over and shoves his fingers into Kame's mouth, jerking his fingers up.
"Mmghdjshfska," Kame says around Taguchi's fingers which are poking his teeth.
"And why would LANDS be there?" Taguchi laughs, fingers molesting Kame's molars. "That would be unexpected. Like an unexpected guest!"
If Kame could form words, he would probably agree: "Yes, it would be." But he can't, so he only manages a mumbed, "pwshdsfaksldajf” instead.

Kame's worry grow when the rest of KAT-TUN pick up on the idea and bring up the suggestion of Mouse Peace and NTT having an additional place in said concert series. Kame's concern grows when he gets wind that Tegomass wants to join.
He's brooding (and worrying, always with the worrying) with his coffee when Taguchi pops his head around the corner.
"Kame-chan?"
"Management's heard, haven't they?"
"If we become a special unit, can we have a name better than Turtle Mouth? That sounds rather dirty."
Kame chokes.
Taguchi beams. "That was unexpected, wasn't it?"
Kame can't help but laugh a little. "Yes. It was."

Management does hear of the concert run idea.
“Vetoed?” Ueda snaps. “Why?”
Taguchi shrugs. "Sequins are very pricey at the moment. And they'd have to make Kame-chan too many outfits and all the cable he needs for his flying stunts exceeds the yearly budget for KAT-TUN. And I'm not allowed a budget of my own because they need to leave something for Kis-My-Ft2. It's alright, I can still budge over for a new unit to shine."
"You shine all on your own," Kame says before he can stop himself.
Taguchi grins at him, and then gives him a small peck on the cheek.
"That was unexpected," Kame manages.
Taguchi grins back. "Yes. It was."
