monte carlo fun

so this is a first for me. a lot of times in math and modeling, simulations are run thousands and thousands of times at slightly different values to see how the model reacts over large parameter sets. it's called a monte carlo simulation, and it allows a better sense of how the model works ( Read more... )

Just kidding. It sounds interesting, though I have no idea what you'll learn from it. Also, I really want that computer.

I did read your entire post and enjoyed it, but I have to say that a Monte Carlo simulation sounds *much* more fun than it really is. Heh.

How far is the walk from school to home? I'm trying to become a crazy marathon walker. I do from home to work and back regularly (10-12 minutes each way) but have not yet mastered home to the gym (25 minutes each way).

look at me! engaging in commenting-discourse!!! whoooo

i don't think i explained my monte carlo goodness well enough. my mathy writing will improve with time. i'm going to add quotes, too!

so i actually started a stopwatch on my walk home, but then forgot to turn it off when i got back home. so, it says it took an hour...but more like about 15 minutes or so. and that was walking with a beat.

Totally over my head, but then math never was my strong suit. I SO love living just 2 blocks off campus, no parking headaches, or transportation woes.
