I would recommend the new Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park. Get there early and grab a badge for the planetarium show first thing.

It's different from the old Steinhart Aquarium, but I think they did a pretty good job overall.

Agreed! Golden Gate Park alone has tons to offer from Conservatory of Flowers, de Young museum, newly opened Academy of Sciences, many flower gardens, buffalo in some areas, Japanese Tea Garden, peaceful AIDS Memorial Grove, and more.

I see someone already recommended a science museum; I was going to recommend the Exploratorium. Very cool, very hands-on science museum with an emphasis on human perception. It can get crazy with rowdy elementary school kids, but still a fun place to visit.

At their website, I happened to see this: CityPass. Might be a good deal if you're going to be there a full week.

Have a great trip!
