I'm not sure if this is a response or an excuse to throw my own theories out there :)
I"m thinking Nick would find out about Renard in a way that makes it look like Renard is there to help him. I think Renard would manipulate things to gain Nick's trust. I don't think Nick would be too, "Why didn't you tell me?" with him, because by now he understands what the risks must be of being "out" as a Wesen in a human world. Then there will be a rude awakening when Renard's motives become known.
I do also think that although Renard clearly has an agenda (establishing/re-establishing a kingdom in Portland), he is still a good guy. I don't think he's corrupt - just ambitious. And I think it'll still be a while before Nick finds out about him. Like in the season finale or close to it.
I agree monroe wouldn't trust Renard, though a grudging alliance would be interesting.
I don't think he's necessarily evil, but I'm not convinced he's good, either. Or, at least, I'm not convinced he has any priorities higher than achieving his agenda.
And another ep passes without us finding out what he is. **sigh** Other than the owner of some truly horrendous pajamas, that is. ;) I confess, I'm getting impatient to find out more about Renard.
I thought this ep was going to answer a few more questions than it did, but it had some cool stuff going on.
Agree 100%. On everything. I was hoping for a few more answers myself, but poor Nick finding out about his Mom. So, was it just me or did it seem unclear who actually killed Nick's parents? OR is it just that Titus Welliver's character wants the coins too. And the last shot - so, so cool. Hitler was a wesen - interesting.
How freaking sexy was SWM speaking German? Who knew that language could turn me on? NEver seemed sexy when my relatives were speaking it when i was a kid, LOL Context!
Can't wait for the OT3 story possibilities for next week's ep. Whee!
So, is Renard technically a Wesen? I seems to me that he represents a power in the Wesen world, but he doesn't change features like the creatures do. So is there a third type of being going on here? Wesen, Grimm, and what? Reapers? Grimm Reapers--Hahaha. I crack myself up. But that scythe symbol seems to belong to this third group. They seem sort of like a secret society like the Masons or the Knights Templar or something. I like Renard, not in the I think he's a good guy way, but I like how ambiguous he is. He's a cool character.
I joined Grimm_TV here on lj, and links to some good interviews/articles end up there, and I also check out IMDB (though lately they seem to be moving a little slow; the last couple of weeks, by the time they post something, I've genreally read it soemwhere else.)
Well, my thought is that there's something else, especially after tonight. He was certainly out of control, so if he was Wesen, it seems like he would have slipped during the whole coin debacle. I kept thinking he was going to be some kind of fox, considering his name, and I kind of waffled on that when they introduced the fuchsbau species, because they didn't seem like they fit him. Then when they introduced the Japanese mythology in "Tarantella," I thought maybe he was going to be a kitsune, and they'd have different types of foxes
